Faculty Farms Unit

Objectives:

  • The farm aims to achieve its goals by assisting the university in fulfilling its mission, both in student education and training, as well as in research.
  • Executing projects for the university, its branches, faculties, institutes, and hospitals, and supplying them with agricultural products as needed by the farm.
  • Obtaining the necessary licenses to provide these services or products.

Achievements:

  • Reclamation of 25 acres from scattered shrubs, converting it into cultivated land currently growing various crops and vegetables.
  • Achieving self-sufficiency in green fodder for animal nutrition.
  • Activating the fruit nursery role, with the number of mango seedlings for marketing exceeding 40,000 seedlings.
  • Emphasis on cultivating summer and winter field crops to meet the farm's needs for poultry and animal feeds.
  • Expansion of cultivation of various types of vegetables under plastic covers or in the field.
  • Improving the efficiency of agricultural equipment and conducting maintenance and repair of essential buildings.
  • Converting 8 acres of surface irrigation to drip and sprinkler irrigation.
  • The farm's production includes over 10 Muscovy duck fattening cycles, 15 chicken fattening cycles, and 2 egg production cycles.
