The Faculty of Agriculture in Ismailia is an important part of the history of Suez Canal University, as it was among the first faculties established following the presidential decree to establish Suez Canal University in Ismailia, decree number 93 of 1976. The faculty began its academic activities in the 1977/1978 academic year, initially graduating students in four agricultural fields only: plant production, animal production, land and water, and food and dairy industries. These programs evolved into scientific departments teaching ten programs between 1982 and 2005/2006. Starting from that time, the Agricultural Engineering program was established, operating on a credit-hour system. In the 2008/2009 academic year, the Agricultural Business Management program, also operating on a credit-hour system, began. Subsequently, the Food Safety program, which is taught in English and operates on a credit-hour system, was introduced. The faculty received accreditation by the decision of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, decision number 154, dated May 23, 2016.
The faculty continuously strives to improve its performance, enhance its communication with research sectors, serve the community, develop the environment, and constantly update its programs. It seeks feedback from community stakeholders and its graduates on ways to develop these programs to ensure that graduates meet societal needs. The Faculty of Agriculture at Suez Canal University is among the first colleges and educational institutions in Egypt to adopt the concept of quality and accreditation in higher education. The college submitted a project to establish an internal quality system in June 2004, funded jointly by Suez Canal University and the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation, with the project starting in January 2005 (second cycle). The college obtained the Continuous Improvement and Qualifying for Accreditation Project (CIQAP) in October 2009 for a period of three years, which was delivered in October 2012. This project led to the development of research laboratories, student laboratories, the library, and lecture halls in accordance with the requirements of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education.
