Prof. Dr. Mohamed Wasfy

Vice Dean's Word

My dear students,

I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Dr. Nasser Saeed Mandour, President of the University, for his continuous support to the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector. I also extend my deep gratitude and appreciation to the college administration, headed by Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Yassin, Dean of the College, and the esteemed Vice Deans for Education and Students Affairs, Postgraduate Studies and Research, for their harmonious and diligent work in serving our students, graduates, and the external community.

I am deeply grateful to the esteemed professors, colleagues, faculty members, and the administrative staff who spare no effort in participating in community service and environmental development for our students and graduates.

I am pleased to welcome you all to the Environmental Affairs and Community Service Sector at the Faculty of Agriculture, Suez Canal University. This pioneering university in the Canal and Sinai region has been founded on four fundamental colleges since its establishment in 1976, following the great October victory, with the Faculty of Agriculture being one of them. Our faculty is enriched with scholars who have gained knowledge and experience from the most prestigious universities worldwide. They are the role models for our students and graduates, who are the nation’s pillars and hopes.

The Environmental Affairs and Community Service Sector is the college's window to the external community in the Canal and Sinai governorates. It is impossible to live within the college and university isolated from the surrounding external community, with all its challenges, aspirations, and hopes. The Environmental Affairs and Community Service Sector is part of the core mission of the college, which includes education, scientific research, and community service and environmental development.

The Environmental Affairs and Community Service Sector has thus become one of the most essential tasks of the college and university, aiming to interact with the surrounding community. The university and college support the concept of environmental development and community development by meeting its needs through activities and services that satisfy the community and provide scientific solutions to current and future challenges in sustainable agricultural development.

The activities of the Environmental Affairs and Community Service Sector extend to various fields. Within the college, it ensures a safe working environment through the Crisis and Disaster Unit, as seen during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also offers training courses for our final-year students to prepare them for the labor market.

Externally, the Environmental Affairs and Community Service Sector participates in environmental health campaigns and comprehensive convoys in the East Delta governorates. It also provides agricultural convoys and seminars for our families in Ismailia and Suez governorates.

The sector offers training courses and guidance seminars for graduates and producers through the Agricultural and Environmental Consultancy Unit. It also collaborates with the Quality Assurance Unit at the college to regularly hold the annual employment forum, where we work with private sector partners to provide real training and employment opportunities and follow up with our graduates in the labor market through the Graduate Follow-up Unit.

The sector provides agricultural consultancy and laboratory analysis services to farmers through the Agricultural and Environmental Consultancy Unit and the Plant Clinic.

Additionally, the sector offers high-quality products as part of its social responsibility through specialized units under the General Service Center for Agricultural Services, including the College Farms Unit, Dairy Products Manufacturing Unit, Bee Research Unit, Fish Research Unit, and Solid Agricultural Waste Recycling Unit.

With this vision for the Environmental Affairs and Community Service Sector, I invite you all to participate and benefit from the various activities and services of the sector. May God guide us all to what is best for our beloved college.
