
To introduce the project of establishing the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the Faculty of Agriculture, and to promote the culture of measurement and evaluation at the college:
The Faculty of Agriculture at the Suez Canal University initiated participation in a project to develop student assessment and examination systems under the supervision of the Higher Education Enhancement Project Management Unit at the Ministry of Higher Education – 6th cycle, to align with the state's strategy in enhancing measurement, evaluation processes, and training on modern methods to improve the educational system and ensure its quality. To achieve the targeted educational outcomes for academic programs in accordance with academic standards as a quality requirement, aiming to produce graduates who meet the needs of the job market. This includes ensuring objectivity in self-assessment, speed of performance, avoiding bias in assessments, and ensuring fairness and transparency in grading for all students, as well as integrating technology into the university's plan to transform it into a smart university, particularly concerning all examination and evaluation activities.
Through this project, the college aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Establish a unit for measurement and evaluation at the college.
- Enhance the college's evaluation system and ensure the quality of its outputs.
- Promote the culture of measurement and evaluation, and train faculty, administrators, and students at the college on evaluation and examination systems.
- Support the establishment of question banks.
- Implement electronic examinations and electronic grading.
- Develop practical and oral tests.
- Adopt guidelines specific to measurement and evaluation (a unified guide for the university on evaluation and examination systems and an ethical charter for evaluation).
Methodology:
- Forming a project management board and establishing units to facilitate operations such as the question bank unit, training unit, and information technology.
- Developing a project plan consisting of: assessing the current situation, identifying needs, prioritizing based on importance of needs and available resources, and developing an integrated implementation plan for the project.
- Continuously monitoring the plan, assessing risks, and developing alternative solutions.
Dissemination:
- Forming a responsible team to disseminate the culture of developing evaluation and examination systems as a gateway to reform and improve the educational system's universality and ensure its quality through: creating a dissemination and awareness plan for all students, faculty, and administrators, establishing an electronic page for the unit and updating it continuously, and issuing pamphlets containing the required guidance and information to disseminate the new evaluation systems, as well as holding seminars and workshops to follow up on project developments and implementations.
Methodology:
- Establishing a project management board, forming units to facilitate operations such as the question bank unit, training unit, and information technology.
- Developing a project plan consisting of:
- Assessing the current situation.
- Identifying needs.
- Prioritizing based on the importance of needs and available resources.
- Developing an integrated implementation plan for the project.
- Continuous monitoring of the plan, assessing risks, and developing alternative solutions.
Participation:
- Involving most faculty members, their assistants, students, and administrators in the project.
- Ensuring continuous and regular communication with the Quality Assurance Unit at the college and project management.
Dissemination:
- Forming a responsible team to disseminate the culture of developing evaluation and examination systems as a gateway to reform and improve the universal educational system and ensure its quality through:
- Developing a dissemination and awareness plan for all students, faculty, and administrators.
- Establishing an electronic page for the unit and updating it continuously, including pamphlets containing the necessary guidance and information to disseminate the new evaluation systems.
- Holding seminars and workshops to monitor project updates and implementation progress.
